Peter Simpson's

Mount Kilimanjaro Climb

Raising awareness and money for Cancer Research Uk

On 5 October Peter Simpson, one of the founders and Directors of Rentalxpress is going to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilamanjaro in aid of Cancer Research UK.  Peter is looking to raise over £20,000 for the charity and with your help this is easily possible.

At 19,344ft (5,896m), Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world, and one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust.

The climb starts in the rainforests of Lemosho Glades and heads upwards on Shira Plateau, a high altitude caldera rarely visited by climbers.

Continuing via the beautiful Southern Flank, Barranco Wall and Barafu Route to the summit.

To reach the summit Peter will need to rise at around midnight. He will tackle the scree slopes to Stella Point, before continuing around the rim to the highest point, Uhuru Peak.

Most trekkers will never have experienced a day as tough as this, with 3,600ft (1,100m) of ascent, 7,200ft (2,200m) of descent, and 12 to 15 hours walking. It is however victory day!
